West Suburban Medical Center Earns Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery

The Center for Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight-Loss at West Suburban Medical Center is designated as a Blue Distinction® Center for Bariatric Surgery. Our bariatric team delivers high-quality, safe, and cost-effective care.

It also means that the West Suburban Medical Center team provides a full range of patient assessment, treatment planning, complex inpatient care and major surgical weight-loss treatments for adults — all delivered by medical specialists with distinguished expertise and subspecialty training. West Suburban Medical Center performs appropriate bariatric surgeries using robotics to achieve minimally invasive patient benefits including smaller incision, faster recovery, less blood loss and minimal scarring.

To become a Blue Distinction® Center (BDC), a provider must meet overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes, developed with input from the medical community. To become a Blue Distinction® Center (BDC), a provider also meet cost measures that address consumers’ need for affordable healthcare. Individual outcomes may vary. A local Blue Plan may require additional criteria for facilities located in its own service area.
